President Barack Obama - YES WE CAN!

Today is a historic day - the first African-American president being proclaimed as the 44th President of the United States of America. Congratulations Mr. President, yes, I voted for you! ;-)

Voting for Mr. Obama was an easy one for me, even though I had my reservation at first. What I admired the most of him is how close he is to his family and friends and what they went through together. This man is so charismatic beyond anyone else I know.

Not to forget the means of how he reached the people during his campaign ea. Facebook-Twitter and Blogs just like this one. At least he and I think alike of how to manage Social Media networking! How cool is that?

In closing here, I look forward to a new America, I have big hopes that Mr. Obama will turn this economy around with his leadership in the White House.  God bless you Mr. President!

University of Hawaii Professor Gives Lecture on Hawaiian Culture

I was excited to hear that Dr. Sankaran Krishna of The University of Hawaii was coming as a guest lecturer in November.

Since he's coming, I decided to brush up on my Hawaiian history. (I've always been fascinated with Hawaiian culture anyway).

For those of you who want to learn more about Hawaii, there are some good books out there.

There are many great books on Hawaii's history, but one of the best places to start is with the formation of the Hawaiian islands, vividly described in David E. Eyre's "By Wind, By Wave: An Introduction to Hawaii's Natural History" (Bess Press, 2000).

I encourage all serious writers and historians to attend.
